Joni McCloskey - 2023 Smith Elementary Teacher of the Year

Hi my name is Joni McCloskey and I am the technology teacher at Smith Elementary. For me it's the relationship with the kids I get enjoyment of being with the kids through kindergarten through fifth grade so I actually get to have them their entire career when they're in elementary school I get to watch them grow up I also get to see how their technolgy skills improve and just continue to foster and build those relationships with those students. I also love the people I work with I work with the best of the best here in Owasso and I feel so thankful that I get to come every day and work along side the the teachers that I do. When I go back and as I get older I do reflect on on my career and probably I would say the joyof looking back on all the years that I have been teaching has been it's just the relationships that I have built with colleagues some of those have become lifelong friendships the students just knowing that I make a difference put a smile when a student comes back from Christmas break and I missed you Mrs. McCloskey, I'm glad to see you I'm looking forward to seeing you just having those moments like that and building those relationship I hope that's kind of legacy that I have built and what they'll remember me by. I can't imagine being anywhere else when I tell people I'm a teacher I'm proud to say that I have spent my time here in Owasso and that and this is where my career will end also I will retire from Owasso Public School Owasso is a great place to work the support that we receive from our Administration is amazing the parent support is great I can't imagine being anywhere else I'm Joni McCloskey and I am an Owasso Ram.
